Your
Purchase Makes a Difference
Abbey Press is owned and operated by
Saint
Meinrad Archabbey, a 150-year-old Benedictine monastic community
in southern Indiana. In addition to Abbey Press, Saint Meinrad
Archabbey operates a nationally renowned school of theology. This
institution is instrumental in providing us with priests and lay
leaders to guide us in our Christian faith and society. Net proceeds
from your purchases go to support these ministries.
History
Abbey Press was founded in
1867 when Saint Meinrad Archabbey purchased its first printing
equipment. Though begun primarily for the use of the monastic
community, the Press grew to become a major source of support for
the Archabbey-and would continue to grow to include not just the
printing business, but also a successful publications division; and
a wholesale marketer of religious and
inspirational gifts.
In the beginning, Abbey Press offered a large array
of cards, plaques, sculptures and gift books, all expertly printed
or manufactured in our own facilities. With changing times and
technology, the selection of products has become even more
impressive in scope, yet has retained the same messages of faith,
goodwill and inspiration that are the foundation of Abbey Press.
In addition, the
publishing imprint of Abbey Press,
One Caring Place,
continues to bring help and hope to over 10,000 caring organizations
and institutions, like hospitals, churches, funeral homes and more
through the popular CareNotes and a host of other "Take One"
literature.
